Lambrini Girls MegaFuzz

High Voltage

The Lambrini Girls rolled through my bancamp recommendations and their music hit me with a pretty closed fist. The music is not only loud and fast, but also eloquently intelligent. Lambrini Girls touch on a myriad of globally significant cultural and political issues that they burn into your brain with their catchy hooks making the duo unignorable.

Luckily for me, they ended up embarking on a North American Tour in 2024. With them rolling through town, I couldn’t help but to try and return some of the primal, distortion-heavy inspiration that they have passed on to me.

As such, the circuits that were inspired by this music needed to have the same flavor of sonic authority. Since the group is made up of Pheobe Lunny on Guitar and Lilly Macieira on Bass, it felt only natural to design both a guitar and bass variant of one of the gnarliest fuzz circuits I could come up with.

The tone filtering for the guitar circuit heavily scoops the mids, while maintaining a ton of treble and bass frequencies. This provides it with a balance of cutting high-end and some serious beef. The bass has a bit more of a darker sound, allowing the bottom end to get really heavy in the mix. Both have a pretty extreme clipping stage that absolutely obliterates the poor transistor trapped in the circuit. So much so in fact that the ‘more’ controls have a specified danger zone where the circuit starts to functionally fall apart a little bit if turned up too high.

I got to meet both Lily and Phoebe after the show and they were both stoked to recieve these. I’m not sure if they’ll get used to the same capacity as some of my other special projects, but all that matters to me is that they can hopefully inspire more kickass work.
